Yacht TWINK returns to the yard

October 18, 2009

TwinkEndeavour Quay was delighted to offer its services when it received a telephone call from the owners of Twink, a Camper & Nicholson built 30ft yacht. She is one of five surviving C&N 30s designed on the drawing board of Charles E. Nicholson himself. This beautiful yacht, lovingly maintained and in fantastic condition was built at Endeavour Quay when it was the Camper and Nicholson boatyard in 1937.

The owners had reported water ingress at a number of points in the hull. The vessel was lifted out using the 180 tonne travel hoist and blocked in one of our Twink02galvanised cradles. Endeavour Quay introduced the owners to a joiner/shipwright contractor who is based at Endeavour Quay and has undertaken the repair work. The job list is as follows.

• Replacement of faulty caulking and stop water fore and aft
• Replace a forward section of the garboard plank above the wooden keel.
• Clean and re-treat the teak decks
• Strip off all antifoul to bare wood, fair and re-apply primeTwink 03r and antifoul.

The replacement plank was fitted and faired and three coats of primer applied before two coats of Navy blue antifoul.

This story will be updated as the work progresses
